On the weekend of November 11th, 12th & 13th, several executive members of the Orangeville & District Minor Lacrosse Association attended The Ontario Lacrosse Association 2005 Annual General Meeting and Festivities in Niagara Falls. We collected some photos of what we feel are noteworthy accomplishments of some of our teams and players.
During the OLA Awrds luncheon, Championship banners were presented to all gold medal box and field teams, male or female, in all age groups. Orangeville Minor Lacrosse earned two gold medals this year and representative players from each team were on hand to accept their championship banners.
Adrian Lum accepted the banner on behalf of his fellow Midget #2 Northmen Field Lacrosse team for winning the gold in the Midget C Division.
Andrew Suitor accepted the banner on behalf of his fellow Midget #1 Northmen Box Lacrosse team for winning the gold in the Midget A Division. Also pictured is Adrian Lum, Jayson Card, and Chris Driscoll (O.L.A.)

The Orangeville Northmen Novice Field Lacrosse team recently competed in the first annual Laurie Montgomery Memorial Fall Harvest Field Lacrosse tournament held at the Orangeville Agricultural Centre. Laurie had helped start this tournament two years ago and passed away just over a year ago. But we are sure that the bright sunshine over the fields on that day was Laurie smiling down as she watched all the kids she loved so much play in the tournament she started.
Not wanting to disappoint Laurie or the hometown fans, the young Northmen were easily the class of their division as they went unbeaten throughout round-robin play with convincing wins over Halton (16-2), Burlington (16-0) and Innisfil (13-0). The experience of already competing in a 7on7 field format in Ithaca New York last fall showed in their ability to control all aspects of the games.
Orangeville faced Halton in the Championship and came out on top by a score of 10-3. A huge thank you goes out to Judy Bryan and her crew for organizing and running the tournament and congratulations to the other Northmen teams for making Laurie and Orangeville proud. The Novice team consists of Patrick Sullivan, Thomas Mansbridge, Ryan Myles, Nick MacDonald, Nathan Janes, Dallas Bridle, Nick Fournier, Jamie McMahon, Ryan Johnston, Trevor Smyth, Joel Coyle and Riley Thompson. The coaches are Greg Thompson, John Kartalev, Barry Coyle and Luke Coyle.
The young boys will continue to hone their field skills until November, when they return to Ithaca to defend their Championship at the Turkeyshoot Lacrosse Tournament.
